KENNEBUNK — Two weeks after the initial reading of the
proposed 2013 fiscal year school budget, the RSU 21 school board heard from the
public during their Monday night meeting. Approximately 25 taxpayers gathered in
Kennebunk Elementary School and seven different people took to the podium to
voice their opinion or ask questions about the budget.
Chairman of the Finance Committee, Kevin Knight, began by
giving a brief overview of the $35.9 million budget, which represents a $246,789
or .69% increase. Public questions and comments ranged from cuts to the art
department to the budget's tax impact on the three towns.
