ARUNDEL — In rallying their cause for withdrawal from RSU
21, a group of Arundel voters held an open forum last week to highlight the
benefits and resolve misconceptions.
The Save Arundel Group organized the March 15 forum, which
was attended by approximately 30 residents, members of surrounding communities,
and local representatives.
On April 10, Arundel voters will be asked to file a
petition with the Board of Directors of RSU 21 and the Commissioner of
Education, authorizing a withdrawal committee to utilize $35,000 to review the
possibility of withdrawal. The vote needs to pass in order to move on to the
next step, but does not mean that withdrawal immediately begins.

Tim said that the Board needs an overall communications strategy for hot topics such as: Arundel’s withdrawal from the RSU, school budget, facilities plans, and cost sharing.
o Once the Board has established an “elevator speech” on each of these topics, the Board
should start approaching the local Rotary clubs, Journal Tribune, and York County Coast
Star to share their views.
