Three positive things have come out of the recent Middle School of the Kennebunks discussions.
First,
after suffering in near silence for nearly a decade, dozens of current
and former staff members at MSK have come forward to share their health
concerns with both the district and the public. People are listening to
those concerns, too, which has directly led to the other two positive
things.
The first of those is the response of
the district's parents. For too many years parents have stayed strangely
silent on the ongoing water intrusion issues at the school. Whether
they were satisfied with the progress being made on repairs by the
district, or simply unaware of the ongoing nature of the staff problems,
parents have figured very little in the discussions of the past few
years. In the past week, though, that clearly changed.
Parents have
taken to social media and the meeting room to show their support for the
MSK staff and to press for answers.
