KENNEBUNKPORT — The committee examining withdrawal from RSU
21 is planning to present a draft report to the Board of Selectmen later this
month.
The RSU 21 Study Committee has been tasked with gathering
information surrounding the implications of withdrawing from the RSU. Town
Manager Larry Mead, who sits on the committee in an advisory position, said the
group has been gathering information on costs, including the impacts to
transportation and special education, capital projects, and administration.
They are also looking at what the results might be of the
town becoming an independent district and what the operating costs of running an
elementary school would be.
"We are going to be presenting preliminary findings of
information to the selectmen at the meeting next week," Mead said. "We will
draft up a written summary of what the findings are to date, they are certainly
not complete."
The committee will present to the board during the March 22
meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Village Fire Station.
