KENNEBUNK — More than 70 people filled the West Kennebunk
Village Fire Station to standing room only early Wednesday where multiple people
called for staff and students to be removed from the Middle School of the
Kennebunks.
It was an emotional, and at times heated, meeting attended
by parents, community members, and school staff who stressed to the RSU 21
Facilities Committee that there are problems in the building severely affecting
their health. The committee, however, pointed to a lack of scientific evidence
to that end.
"You need to say what can we do to remediate this and it
may be moving them to another building," said Karen Arel, a Kennebunk resident
who had a child attend the school, and who said she is a victim of a sick
building.
