Making history in Arundel

Memorable events change the character of a town or community at different points in their history and for the town of Arundel, Feb. 12, 2012 will go down as a date to remember. The Arundel Historical Society, after more than two years of fundraising, getting community support, lining up contractors, prep work, etc., moved two historic farmhouses to a new site on a very cold Sunday. Spirits were up and people were excited as the buildings moved down Route 111 (Alfred Road) to their new home at the corner of Limerick Road and Route 111.

This area of town is known as North Chapel since at one time the North Chapel Church stood very near where these buildings are now located. The farmhouses will be joined by a replica of the North Chapel Church designed to be used as a meeting place for the historical society as well as other town organizations. The complex will be called North Chapel Common. We would like to thank the unsung local heroes who have supported and stuck by us through these past few years as well as those who actually made the move happen on Feb. 12
