CALCULATE YOUR TAX INCREASE for the proposed school projects

RSU 21 Building Project Impact Calculator

The RSU Facilities Committee has recommended significant upgrades to Mildred L. Day School, at an early-estimated cost of $3.7M.  A similar proposal to refurbish Kennebunkport Consolidated School has been estimated at $4.2M, while a complete renovation of Kennebunk High School is projected to cost $46.3M.  By entering data from your 2012 tax bill into the chart, below, you may determine the approximate impact of such each, or all, of these projects on your tax bill during the highest year of repayment of this 20 year bond.

  1. To bad we can't tell what the tax impact on Arundel would be if we had to go it alone. This does not show that, although the poster cleary intended to have the numbers interpreted this way.

Not that I am accusing anyone of manipulating numbers for their own gain!
O wait, some one from the withdraw group said they can easily manipulate numbers at the meeting the other day.

This will provide all side the proper information so we can all make an intelligent decision and once and for all answer the BIG Question, "what the tax impact on Arundel would be if we had to go it alone?"

    a few FACTS for thought:

    1. FACT | The RSU 21 Building Impact Calculator was created by the school board and posted to the RSU21 website to better inform the public!

    2. FACT | The new proposed Kennebunk High School Improvement Project is going to have a long term tax impact on our community!

    3. FACT | Only 6% of Arundel High School Age Students Attend KHS!

    4. FACT | 100% of Arundel High School Age Students have the ability to attend KHS and choose not too!

    5. FACT | The numbers presented above seem to show that we will be required to pay for a high school which we do not use!

    7. FACT | RSU21 Unity members do not care for FACTUAL DATA which doesn't support their claims!

    8. FACT | Non of the numbers presented in this document seem to be manipulated as indicated above.....one would only have to verify the data on the RSU21.net website prior to posting a comment like that!

    9. FACT | April 10th, 2012 will provide the town's people of Arundel the ability to answer the BIG QUESTION! What is best for the town in the LONG TERM!

  3. Funny thing is that the person who brought that up didn't mention that when the withdrawal supporter said that at a meeting he was quoting John Sharood of the RSU 21 finance committee! Andrew Dolloff also agreed that anyone can manipulate the numbers. No one is better at that than the RSU. Arundel saves over $5.6 million dollars if they go it alone, according to RSU 21. Do you trust their accuracy?

  4. This information came from RSU 21, that's why it doesn't show the impact if Arundel goes it alone.
Arundel will save over $5.6 million by going it alone. That doesn't include the stand alone theatre, additional money being added to the Consolidated school plan or future renovations to MSK. Does anyone think that fiasco is over?

  5. Interesting. Sadly what the RSU is NOT telling you is that property valuations go up and go down as well as the pupil counts. This is all hog wash. I will base my opinion, and my tax dollars on voting Yes on April 10th. As history presents itself, RSU 21 isn't all that great at giving the factual information when it comes to finances, for example TAMS BUY out, they couldn't even get our town contribution correct. Give me a break. Vote Yes on April 10th, and save your wallet.
