BIDDEFORD – A last-minute attempt to prevent the release of the names of Zumba instructor Alexis Wright's alleged "johns" has succeeded -- at least for a while.
The suspected clients got the reprieve Friday, the day police had been expected to release a list of names of individuals charged with the misdemeanor offense of engaging a prostitute. Authorities will not make the names public before the state's highest court acts on an appeal filed by two of the alleged clients.
"It will be our last attempt. That's our last best hope," said their attorney, Stephen Schwartz.
Another defense lawyer representing accused prostitution clients filed a separate motion late Friday seeking to keep the names private for different reasons.

Just my thoughts, but I think that the overwhelming amount of Zumba information on here is unnecessary... It is in Kennebunk, and we have much larger decisions in our town looming. I hate seeing it all buried under the prostitution ring that will have no bearing on the future of our town and our taxes.... Just a thought. ~Leia

ReplyDeleteWe need to be focused getting voters educated on how crazy it would be to withdraw from RSU21.
The damage to the Town will be immense if this were to somehow pass.

To think that this may have no effect on our life in Arundel Maine may be your point of view of the current situation, yet I believe other.
We belong to an RSU with 50% of the members from Kennebunk, 25% Kennebunkport and 25% Arundel...the list contains 150+ people with the assumptions most my be from our combined communities.
With this being an election year I believe the publication of the list will have a direct effect on decisions at the voting polls by the public at large.
The links for all the past post can be viewed on the right of the screen or be scrolling down...If there is new NEWS about the withdrawal process, The FINAL REPORT, the town of Arundel directly, etc. it will be posted here as it always has been.

Six months from now, nobody will care about the list..
ReplyDeleteEven less about the issue of importance about the withdrawal vs the Johns. I also find that this enormous amount of coverage is horrible for the families involved not to mention the kids. Yes i agree the Johns or Janes, didn't think about this when they decided to take that turn but their children and families have had not part in that and don't deserve to be dragged through the mud because of a bad choice of someone else that they had no control over. The sensational media is so out of control in this country...its why elections are the way they are and our country is starting to falter.... we care more about scandal than about the true issues in our towns and countries...Just my TWO cents...but I believe that many sensible Americans/Arundelonians would be with me on that one.
ReplyDeleteso continue to be a part of the sensational media, dulling our senses toward what is truly important and continue to put these children and families that are innocent victims in the media...but thank you, I will just stop reading because for me.. it should be about what is TRULY important..not just a car wreck that people can't help but watch.
To say that a 150 people on a documented Johns list by the key player is not newsworthy is disingenuous.

If they don't publish that list, the no crime should be reported preconviction.
What about the family of the baby who was killed when the father through him in a rage? There is no difference and his name and picture filled the papers...
