Police to begin charging 'johns' in Kennebunk prostitution case

Police say they will begin issuing summonses now that indictments are complete.


KENNEBUNK — Kennebunk police have started the process of issuing summonses now that indictments have been handed up on the case of an alleged prostitution operation in town.

Lt. Anthony Bean Burpee said Thursday that police are now issuing the summonses because the indictments have been completed.

Grand jury indictments in the case were made public late Wednesday.

Alexis Wright, 29, of Wells, was indicted on 106 counts, including promotion of prostitution, engaging in prostitution, invasion of prostitution and various tax offenses.
