KENNEBUNKPORT — The Board of Selectmen has
accepted the report from the committee studying withdrawal from RSU 21,
which found that while the cost for leaving is not significantly
different than staying in the district, there are other changes to
contemplate.
The Kennebunkport Educational
Options Study Committee has reviewed a variety of elements surrounding
potential withdrawal, including elementary education options, general
administration, transportation, special education, capital needs, and
more. The group found that the preliminary projected cost of operating
an independent Kennebunkport school department totals $6.6 million,
compared to the projected cost for FY '13 within RSU 21 of $6.7 million.
