ASBESTOS-CONTAINING BUILDING MATERIAL
IN Maine Regional School Unit 21 SCHOOL DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
To: All RSU#21 School Department employees, parents and guardians, and Arundel, Kennebunk-Kennebunkport residents.
All schools/buildings in RSU #21 have been inspected for the presence of Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM’s). Written plans for the management of ACBM have been developed. The management plan notes the type and location of ACBM’s and is available for inspection at the office of the Superintendent of Schools and in each principal’s office. Copies may be made on request for a cost of .25 cents per page.
The management plan is an outline of operational procedures designed for the proper maintenance and safety of all people who work, study, or are otherwise present in any of these buildings to minimize the exposure to asbestos hazards.
The condition of all ACBM’s is semi-annually subject to surveillance.
The following inspections and maintenance activities occurred during the past year:
- Annual 6-Month Inspection June 2011
- Annual 6-Month Inspection December 2011
Several projects to remove ABCM were completed over the summer of 2011 as approved by voters’ referendum in May 2011. A copy of the removal plan is available for viewing at the Superintendent of Schools office.
