Concern No. 1: Money we have put into the RSU.
$460,000 carry over/ $95,000 Federal Stimulus money.
Arundel had a surplus the first year that we joined the RSU; this was used to
reduce the tax burden to the town. The stimulus money was Education Allocated
funds, and was intentionally withheld, the DOE had to request the release of
those funds as it was illegal for Arundel to keep them. Those funds were also
used to offset taxes by being placed into the operating budget. SAD 71 funds
came to the district as well.
Debt upon entrance into the RSU: Yes, Arundel had no debt
upon entering the RSU. With that zero debt, we had a boiler needing repair,
sewage running toward the playground, a building in bad need of TLC, programming
out of compliance with state mandates, teacher pay was not equitable to other
schools in area, had arsenic in the water, and completely out-of-date resources
for our children. We also had to give up our sixth- to eighth-grade to an
outside source because we couldn't afford it.
6-8th we either had to build or new school, or tuition out. Arundel decided to tuition out. I am voting yes, because of the rudeness and lack of respect that all of you seem to have for Arundel and its citizens. Vote yes on April 10th to find out factual information from an independant consulting firm.
ReplyDeleteA YES vote is to proceed with the withdrawal process...NOT just for a study...be VERY CLEAR On that because the yes crew is trying to say it ONLY IS TO GET THE STUDY DONE...it isn't...it is a VOTE TO START THE WITHDRAWAL PROCESS.....
ReplyDeleteThis is QUOTED by TOdd Shae town manager at the MARCH 26th Meeting...If you haven't listened...please do it is on the town website.
NO means keep our money in Arundel and stay the way it is.
