ARUNDEL — After the votes were tallied, Arundel residents
let their voices be heard nearly two to one that they were in favor of
investigating the withdrawal process from the RSU 21.
The vote, which was held on Tuesday, April 10 at the
Arundel Fire Department, came down to 517 votes in favor of investigating the
process of withdrawal and 291 votes in opposition.
“The town of Arundel has spoken,” said Town Manager Todd
Shea. “Now we’ll do all the due diligence to try to figure out what’s in the
best interest of the town.”
Shea said the next step will be the Board of Selectmen
appointing a withdrawal committee; a second vote for withdrawal will only be set
by the Commission of Education once an approved withdrawal agreement has been
created.
