  1. Interesting no less that there are some still saying that there won't be enough time, but the Town of Arundel is doing everying according to statute. What is it going to be next, asking for 2, 3 or 4 year plans?

    1. They may be doing everything 'according to statute', but that does not diminish the fact that the withdrawal process did not have to be entered into in order to conduct a feasibility study.

What part of that do you not understand?

Formal withdrawal proceedings were completely and utterly unnecessary to find out whether it would be costly and a huge mistake to withdraw from the school district.

Wait until you get your tax bill if this passes. You'll see.

Planning out one year ahead WITHOUT FINANCIAL DATA is the most ignorant, stupid thing a committee and the town could do. Given they sold it as a 'study', though, I suppose the same could be said about the people who voted for this to happen.

My taxes went up AGAIN this year. When does it stop? We were told if the contract were bought out, our taxes would increase. We didn't buy out the contract. Taxes went up. This past year, we defunded important resources and blew tens of thousands of dollars on a 'study' that isn't going to be shared until a couple of weeks before voting day. Taxes went up AGAIN.

      What ails you people?

    2. ARUNDEL — A new mill rate of $14.50 was set by the Board of Selectmen on Monday, Aug. 27.

The mill rate, which represents a 64 cent increase over last year's rate, was heavily influenced by education appropriations and a reduction of revenue, said Town Manager Todd Shea.

Last year $450,000 was used from the undesignated fund balance to assist with tax reduction, and this year using $300,000 from the fund was approved, he said.

Shea said that the mill rate will equal a tax increase of $128 on a $200,000 property.

  2. A draft of the agreement from Arundel was sent to the RSU 21’s attorney June 16. At an early July withdrawal committee meeting with RSU 21 Superintendent of Schools Andrew Dolloff, they discussed the wording of the agreement between the town and the RSU.

Dolloff praised the work of the committee

    1. Stay classy; suggesting that one move because the dipwads in town want to run it into the ground and screw up our childrens' education doesn't mean moving away is going to change anything.

They'll still be ignorant, make harmful, ignorant choices, complain about everything, and wonder why their children didn't do better.

It's time for new blood in our town positions; some folks are a bit too cozy where they sit, and a bit too cozy with people who whisper suggestions to them outside of meetings, and in executive sessions.

    2. As rude as it is to tell people if they don't like the decisions made by this town then they should just move, it seems that MANY are doing just that. It doesn't look like they are very successful in selling their homes...could this be because no one wants to move here to pay high taxes and receive very little services, not to mention the limited choices on education... It's a lose, lose for everyone.

    3. My family moved here for the options of school choice for high school. I don't see it as losing at all.

  3. The meeting tonight would have been better if the moderator would have kept point of order.
