ARUNDEL — Planning Decisions consultant Charles Lawton said Tuesday that Arundel should expect steady enrollment rates for the next 10 years.

"Arundel, to a certain extent, has attracted new residents and I project a steady enrollment rate," Lawton said, speaking to members of the Arundel Withdrawal Committee about the district's future population, should it leave RSU 21.

Describing the "steady enrollment rate" as approximately 35 students entering school each year, with numbers ranging from 33 to 38 for specific years within the projected 10-year forecast, Lawton said it's difficult to make predictions so far ahead in the future but noted that the cost of education ultimately comes down to the number of students within the school and property value in the town.

The meeting, held on Tuesday evening at Mildred L. Day School, was the first time the Arundel Withdrawal Committee heard from Lawton.
