Public Forums to be Held on Facilities

The RSU 21 Board of School Directors has scheduled three upcoming Public Forums specifically designed to invite community input on a recently adopted Master Facilities Plan.  These forums will be held as follows:

    October 25 at Kennebunk High School at 7:00 p.m.
    November 3 at Mildred L. Day School at 7:00 p.m.
    November 17 at Kennebunkport Consolidated School at 7:00 p.m.

On each evening, individuals may take tours beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Beginning at 7:00 each evening, the District's Facilities Committee will present the Master Facilities Plan, which has been developed over the course of the past two years with the assistance of Harriman Architects and Engineers.  


As part of that plan, the Committee will be recommending renovations to Kennebunkport Consolidated School and Mildred L. Day School, along with a significant renovation and expansion of Kennebunk High School.  The committee will specify work to be done at each school and provide architectural illustrations and cost estimates for each project.  

As part of the plan, the District will also consider the eventual closing of Sea Road School and the reorganization of Kennebunk Elementary School from a K-3 to a K-5 structure.

The RSU Board anticipates a referendum on these projects in the fall of 2012.
