Kennebunk High School Building Project

On Monday, November 15, the RSU 21 Board of School Directors approved the formation of a High School Building Committee for the purpose of working with Harriman Architects and Engineers to develop a concept plan for the renovation of Kennebunk High School. The Board intends to develop a plan to be placed before the voters in the fall of 2011.

This proposed project is the result of more than a year’s work by the district’s Facilities Committee, working with Harriman to create a long-term facilities plan. Because of the age and condition of the facility, it was determined that upgrading Kennebunk High School should be a priority for our communities. An in-depth study indicates that renovation of much of the existing structure is more cost-effective than building a new school, though it is anticipated that a properly completed project will involve demolition and replacement of some portions of the current building.
