A hot-button issue at the meeting centered on RSU 21 elementary
schools and questions that have been asked before: Is it worth it to
have an elementary school in every town? Is consolidation a fiscally
prudent decision?
Once the school board sees fit, the board will issue a questionnaire
to residents to assess the level of community interest in the
possibility.
In what would likely be a $10 million project, several possible
options were brought to the table. Those options included closing
Mildred L. Day School and relocating those students to Consolidated
School, or vice versa. A third option explored moving to a kindergarten
through third-grade system in each town and concentrating the remaining
students at Sea Road School.

To the editor:
Recent articles in your paper report on Arundel’s journey to find its center. I’ve even attended a few town meetings when this topic was being discussed.
As an Arundel resident, I’m somewhat curious and a bit puzzled by the whole process.
First we residents were asked to complete a survey (I did).
Then we were asked our input about what and where (zoning) the town center should be.
Now we’ve sent $25,000 to folks from away to tell us what we think we want to know. Isn’t this like paying someone to look at your watch and telling you what time it is? OK if one is visually impaired, I guess.
