Withdrawal agreement goes to state ~ Education commissioner has 90 days to review

ARUNDEL — A withdrawal agreement was signed moments before the RSU 21 Board of Directors meeting Monday, Aug. 20.

Superintendent Andrew Dolloff said the agreement was signed Monday night and he has already sent it to Stephen Bowen, education commissioner for the state of Maine, through fax, e-mail and regular mail.

The next step in the withdrawal process is the review from Bowen, who can return the agreement back to the committee for corrections or changes, before a town meeting will be held in Arundel to set a time and date for the official withdrawal vote.

Although Bowen has 90 days to review the document, Dolloff said he does not think it will take the full three months.

The Arundel Withdrawal Committee met for their last formal meeting Wednesday, Aug. 15.
With only one discussion point, members from the RSU 21 Board of Directors and the Arundel representatives discussed the options between placing Arundel's share of the debt owed from the revolving renovation fund for work at the Middle Schools of the Kennebunks and Kennebunk High School into an interest-bearing account.
