State law allowed towns to start the process
of withdrawal starting Jan. 1. Among those trying to leave their districts are
some Arundel residents. They say that joining Regional School Unit 21 has killed
local autonomy and raised taxes at a disproportionate rate compared to the other
member communities, Kennebunkport and the much larger Kennebunk.
Whether
to stay or go has pitted neighbors and relatives against one another and brought
tensions between towns to the surface. In the middle of this dispute is...a

Not only does consolidation pit neighbor againt neighbor, rumors are spreading like wildfire.
ReplyDeleteDr.Crowley can not be fired because of contractual obligations. Who ever started the vicious rumor should stop. Dr. Crowley is welcomed even by those who want to withdraw. The only way he would not be in the Arundel School District is only if he retired or was relocated. The rumor not only is far from the truth, but it also creates turmoil and upset at ML DAY. In the end truth always wins.
I have not heard this rumor, but you are correct. This entire process will bring nothing but turmoil to ML Day. After all, it is the only school in Arundel. In my opinion Dr. C will not want to stay in a district that has a long history of not suporting education. All one has to do is look back a few years and see that we lost our ability to keep 6-8 grades. How long before we decide not to fund or fix the issues with the building then being forced to close it?
ReplyDeleteWhat rumors? I haven't anything about Dr. Crowley being fired. Since I read this, the only place I have seen this mentioned is here, and on the Concerned Arundel citizens FB page. I would question where these rumors are originating from.
