On October 22, 2012, Mark Jackson, 44, of 30 Back Searsport Road, Belfast, ME, was arrested on an active arrest warrant for Unpaid Fines after police respond to a residence on Landing Drive for a medical call. He was transported to the York County Jail and is scheduled to appear at a later date in District Court.
On October 29, 2012, Peter B. Chavonelle Jr., 47, of 19 Swan Road, Windham, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On October 31, 2012, Derek M. Chapman, 32, of 461 Cumberland Avenue, #7, Portland, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on December 19, 2012.
On October 30, 2012, Jeffrey A. Rogers, 38, of 10 Carriage Way, Scarborough, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On November 1, 2012, Craig S. Patterson, 53, of 119 Wythburn Road, South Portland, ME; Stanley H. Cornwall Jr., 50, of 11 Parker Farm Road, Buxton, ME; and Robert W. Hazleton Jr., 68, of 20086 Palermo Lake Court, Estero, FL, were all charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. All are scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.

Douin, 38, of 31 Sunrise Street, Augusta, ME; and Wendall Wayne Fessenden, 62, of 5 Proctor Avenue, Kennebunkport, ME, were charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. Both are scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On November 5, 2012, Brian R. Bedard, 38, of 201 River Road, Biddeford, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On November 6, 2012, Michael A. McInnis, 53, of 15 Vines Road, Saco, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On November 7, 2012, James Andrew Ferriera, 49, of 165 Sandy Hill Road, South Portland, ME; Jeffrey R. Beaupre, 46, of 22 Homestead Drive, Lyman, ME; and Thomas F. Powers, 56, of 708 River Road, Edgecomb, ME, were all charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. All are scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On November 8, 2012, William Lee Kerr, 53, of 152 Lone Indian Trail, Augusta, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.
On November 9, 2012, Jeffrey L. Comeau, 35, of 77 Cemetery Road, Berwick, ME, was charged with Engaging a Prostitute following an ongoing department investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on January 23, 2013.

KENNEBUNK — Following months of rumors, tips
and investigation, records show Kennebunk Police in February requested a
search warrant of the business spaces, home and personal vehicle of
Alexis Wright, expecting they would find evidence of prostitution.
What
they discovered, though, investigators said in court records, was an
extensive business operation that included videotaping clients without
their knowledge, a tucked away office space stocked with body oils,
condoms and camcorders, a "domination fetish list" and a little black
book of client names.
More alleged 'john' names to be released Friday
Kennebunk Police are expected Friday to release the next "batch" of names of men alleged to be clients of Alexis Wright.
So
far 39 men have been charged with the misdemeanor crime of engaging a
prostitute. All are due in court in either December or January.
Further, records show, investigators discovered
a link to Wright's alleged partner-in-crime: Mark W. Strong Sr., a
57-year-old insurance company owner and private investigator from
Thomaston.
Today both Wright, 29, of Wells,
and Strong face more than 160 charges, including prostitution, promoting
prostitution and invasion of privacy.

Neither Wright nor Hopkins appeared for a hearing on the claim Wednesday and a York District Court judge dismissed the matter. The dismissal apparently was expected because Wright never received a summons to appear.
Hopkins filed the complaint late last month in seeking a civil protection order for their 7-year-old son and full custody. The boy currently lives with Wright.

Withdrawal vote: 'We can move forward together'

ARUNDEL — Arundel voted Tuesday to remain part of RSU 21 by a narrow margin of 125 votes, providing further proof of a town divided.
There were 1,169 voters in favor of remaining
with RSU 21 and 1,044 voters in favor of withdrawal, with nearly 75
percent of Arundel's 3,000 registered voters casting ballots.
The decision comes after a lengthy battle that has pitted neighbor against neighbor and deeply divided the community.
"We
can finally move past the question if we're going to be part of RSU 21
and actually become part of RSU 21," said Town Manager Todd Shea after
the votes were counted.
Shea said that Arundel
has "never fully accepted" being part of RSU 21 and he hopes that the
town begins to come together and move forward.
"Our job is now how to go forward as a community and exercise the town's local control in RSU 21 issues," Shea said.
RSU
21 Superintendent Andrew Dolloff said he was very pleased with
Arundel's decision and looks forward to continuing working with the
"extremely talented" staff at Mildred L. Day School.
"Fortunately this decision eliminates disruptive changes that would occur if the district needed restructuring," he said.
Dolloff
said RSU 21 is always looking to improve and offer new opportunities
for students and he looks forward to continuing working with students
and parents in Arundel.
Kevin Crowley, principal at Mildred L. Day, said he hopes this decision begins the healing process for Arundel.

ARUNDEL — Voters in Arundel have narrowly decided to stay in Regional School Unit 21, by a vote of 1,196 to 1,044, and will continue to share fiscal and administrative resources for education with Kennebunk and Kennebunkport.The vote caps months of debate, which started in January when volunteer firefighter David Lane helped to spearhead a petition proposing that the town withdraw from RSU 21. The effort kicked off a series of informational meetings, public hearings, a Special Town Meeting to determine whether the town should move forward, and the formation of a withdrawal committee that was tasked with determining Arundel’s best financial interests.

Time to build bridges
Arundel voters had the final say Tuesday on the
proposed withdrawal of the town from RSU 21, rejecting the withdrawal
plan 1,169 to 1,044.
There was hardly a clear mandate to remain with RSU 21; only 125 votes separated the nays from the yeas.
And as Mildred L. Day School Principal Kevin
Crowley said, "Half of the people are going to be disappointed and the
other half are going to be happy."

Just a few short years ago, the state came to Arundel and said we needed to find alternatives for our middle school students. Arundel was looking at significant increases to our taxes until Thornton Academy came to our rescue.

New plans for school renovation
New gym and kitchen part of Consolidated School proposal
KENNEBUNKPORT – Kennebunkport Consolidated Elementary School which opened in 1953, is long overdue for an overhaul, say town officials.
According to a memo sent to the board of selectmen from Town Manager Larry Mead, the school did not have enough space at the time it was opened.
Classrooms were added for the 1955-56 school year and, in 1966, the gymnasium wing was built. Although the school was renovated in 1990, the plan did not include additional space.
The nearly 60-year-old school will undergo an estimated cost of $9.8 million in renovations. Harriman Architects is working with RSU 21 as a consultant on the project.
Mead’s memo to the board of selectmen outlines the current plan, which would replace the present gym and kitchen “with an addition to house a new gym and kitchen, as well as a music room and performance stage, library, art room and office space.”
Before the building can be refurbished, the Consolidated School Building Committee must present its recommendations to the Facilities Committee on the school board, which will then review the recommendations with the rest of the school board.
Once a firm plan is in place, the request for a bond will go on the 2013 ballot to be voted on by the general public.

Arundel
citizens now have the information to make an informed decision
regarding withdrawal from RSU 21. Regardless of what has been said in
the past from both sides the consultant summarized the risks and their
impact into the future for the town.
Straight talk about the RSU
To the Editor:
We
have heard a few people recently say that if Arundel stays in RSU 21 we
will have no “local control” and will be at the mercy of those
free-spending folks in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport for new construction
projects or educational programs we don’t need or want. One person even
said: “Simple math shows we have no influence on any and all topics
desired to be passed by the board.” Frankly, we think that’s hogwash!
Stay in the RSU
To the Editor:
On Nov. 6 Arundel residents will decide whether they will stay with RSU 21 or go it alone.
You have factual information available. Your
town hired a consultant to provide the residents with an unbiased,
factual, independent assessment of the impact each option would have on
you. Because one side or the other disagrees with the final conclusion,
does not make it any less accurate. You have the history of the approach
previously taken to running your school independently as well as how it
is approached now.
You can see in your children the results of the
current approach.
It would seem to make sense
that costs spread among three communities would have less of an impact
on the individual taxpayer than bearing the costs as a stand-alone
community.
